Sound familiar?

E-commerce accounting is complicated.
It doesn't have to be.

Online sellers deal with accounting headaches that traditional accountants aren't equipped to handle. Forti specialises in exactly these challenges.

Multiple platforms, one mess

Sales across Amazon, Shopify, and Etsy with different fee structures, currencies, and settlement timings — nearly impossible to reconcile manually.

VAT across borders

Selling into the EU, UK, or US each comes with different VAT, GST, and sales tax obligations. Missing thresholds can mean penalties and back-payments.

Inventory & COGS confusion

Knowing your true profit means accurately tracking cost of goods sold, FBA storage and fulfilment fees, returns, and stock on hand at any point.

Currency & FX headaches

Receiving USD, GBP, or EUR from different marketplaces and translating those into accurate Irish accounts is a daily challenge without the right systems.

Annual filing panic

CT1 corporation tax, CRO annual returns, VAT reconciliation — trying to do a year's worth of catch-up in January is expensive and stressful.

Accountant doesn't get it

Most traditional accountants haven't dealt with Amazon settlements, Shopify payouts, or OSS returns. You end up explaining your business to them every time.

Amazon FBA

From settlement chaos to clean monthly accounts

A Dublin-based FBA seller operating across Amazon.ie, .co.uk, and .de came to us with 18 months of unreconciled settlements and an overdue CT1. We rebuilt their books from scratch, handled the Revenue catch-up, and got them onto a clean monthly reporting cycle — all within 8 weeks.

Frequently asked

E-commerce accounting questions answered

Do I need to register for VAT in Ireland if I sell on Amazon?
If you're selling through an Irish limited company and your taxable turnover exceeds €75,000 for goods (or €37,500 for services), you must register for VAT in Ireland. Even below those thresholds, voluntary registration can be beneficial to reclaim input VAT. We'll assess your position and advise on the right approach during onboarding.
What is OSS and do I need to use it?
The EU One-Stop Shop (OSS) scheme allows businesses selling goods or digital services to consumers across EU member states to report and pay all EU VAT through a single return filed in Ireland. If your cross-border EU B2C sales exceed €10,000 per year, OSS registration is required. We handle registration and quarterly OSS returns as part of the E-Commerce plan.
Can Forti handle my UK VAT if I sell on Amazon.co.uk?
Post-Brexit, Irish businesses selling into the UK must register for UK VAT separately if their sales exceed the £90,000 registration threshold (or if they hold stock in the UK via FBA). UK VAT is handled separately from your Irish plan and quoted as an add-on. We can coordinate this through our UK partner network.
How do you handle Amazon FBA stock in the UK or EU?
Holding FBA inventory in a foreign Amazon fulfilment centre can create a VAT liability in that country — for example, stock in Amazon UK warehouses typically triggers a UK VAT registration obligation regardless of your sales level. We review your FBA inventory position and advise on registration requirements as part of your onboarding.
Do I need an Irish company to use Forti's e-commerce service?
No — we work with sole traders and non-resident company owners as well as Irish limited companies. Many of our international clients operate through an Irish structure and sell globally. If you don't yet have an Irish company, we can handle formation from €250 + VAT as a first step. Learn about company formation →
What if my records are a mess or I have a backlog?
It happens more often than you'd think — especially for sellers who've been growing fast. We'll scope the catch-up work separately from your ongoing monthly plan, provide a clear written quote, and get your records in order before moving you onto a clean monthly service. No judgement, just progress.
